On 5/24/2023, the 21st Great Design in Steel (GDIS) conference was held in Novi, USA.

GDIS is one of the oldest conferences on automotive materials and this year I was pleased to welcome around 1500 participants.

One of the main topics this year was the changing requirements for vehicle structures due to electromobility and which materials and component cross-sections meet these requirements.  Dreistern supported the conference and presented at an exhibition booth, among other things, some profiles manufactured on Dreistern equipment that are already being used in electric vehicles.

In a presentation, Dr. Tilman Traub also provided information on what future-proof and sustainable production systems for manufacturing these profiles could look like.
